Working Student – Verification & Validation Engineer (w/m/x)

At Symphera, we develop surgical systems for minimally invasive procedures and are currently intensifying our Verification & Validation (V&V) activities as part of our transition into regulated product development. Based in Munich, we are looking for a working student to support our engineering and quality teams with hands-on testing, test setup development, and structured documentation.

You will work closely with experienced engineers in a design-controlled environment and gain direct exposure to how medical devices are verified against technical and regulatory requirements.

  • Supporting the definition of overall testing and verification strategies
  • Extracting test methods and acceptance criteria from relevant standards
  • Deriving test methods and acceptance criteria from technical requirements
  • Designing test protocols to ensure compliant and traceable test documentation
  • Designing test setups such as fixtures and dedicated test devices
  • Building test setups using 3D printing and electronic components (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
  • Validating test setups using calibrated measurement equipment
  • Performing verification tests and documenting results
  • Working closely with design engineers to interpret test results and define solution approaches
  • Following design control and quality system procedures in compliance with applicable regulatory standards
  • We’re looking for someone who is structured, hands-on, and interested in working at the intersection of engineering, testing, and quality.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering (e.g. medical, biomedical, mechanical, electrical) or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with physical product testing is a plus
  • Confidence working with technical documentation tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with CAD modelling software (e.g. SolidWorks, Onshape)
  • Experience programming microcontrollers (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
  • A detail-oriented and systematic working style, combined with a collaborative mindset
  • Motivation to learn and grow in a regulated product development environment
  • Fluency in English; German is a plus but not required

Symphera is an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
